Praises & Feature Requests

I want to show you what I'm doing some evenings in my spare time.
At first I want to say that this is ONLY A PRIVATE HOBBY PROJECT, I don't want to "kill" eCC, But eventually wake up Andreas a bit ;-)

Praises & Feature Requests

Unread post by Tormentor667 » 30 Jun 2013, 14:29

First of all, thanks for the program, it's definitely - at least for me, as this is always a personal taste I guess - an improvement over ECC, as it runs better on my machine and I really like the MobyGames scraping. Though, I have some feature requests for ECC2 which I have already asked for ECC without any success. Maybe I get the chance to find them in an upcoming version of ECC2 :)
  • Tagging games (as finished) or marking them in the overview list (link)
  • PS1/2 scraping/isos/launching improvement (link)
Another question that I have, is, if ECC2 actually also downloads and scrapes videos from EmuMovies. And last but not least, is it possible to multi-scrape entries from MobyGames instead of doing this manually item by item?

Thanks already for your reply, looking forward :)
Kudos to the program!

Hi,

Thank you for your post. Lets look at your requests:
Tagging games (as finished) or marking them in the overview list
This is on my todo list
PS1/2 scraping/isos/launching improvement
I will look at this. I ran into similar problems with other isos, so there is a good chance that I will solve this :-)
Another question that I have, is, if ECC2 actually also downloads and scrapes videos from EmuMovies.
Sure it does. Simply enter your login data and you can download images and videos. ECC2 stores the last download date, so you can see if its worth to press the button. As an improvement I plan to add a function for rescanning all updated platforms.
And last but not least, is it possible to multi-scrape entries from MobyGames instead of doing this manually item by item?
You have to do this one by one. The problem is, that MobyGames returns more than 1 result in most cases. So you have to choose which is the right one. I have no idea how to do this for multiple games in an user friendly and comfortable way. Ideas for the needed user interface are welcome...

Thanks a lot for your replies, looks pretty promising and I am looking forward to these - especially the marking thing. I really like that feature in D-Fend Reloaded, as you can keep track of what game have you played, what game is "in progress" and what game isn't started yet. Gives me a nice feeling to see "Yeah,... look how much time I've already wasted spent in my oldgames-youth" ;)

By the way, while working with ECC2 I have also noticed another thing that might be of use:
  • Right Click entry to delete entry+file
Sometimes you stumble upon games that you want to get rid of. Sure you can delete the file manually and then rescrape the whole directory, but I guess an easier solution is right-clicking the entry in ECC2 and then have the choice to remove the file/entry from here
  • Category image type not globally
I noticed that you can choose the image type that is displayed in the category overview from the top dropdown list (e.g. Ingame - Title, Box - Title, etc). The problem is that most of the gameboy titles do not have box arts, most of the gba titles do only have box arts but no ingame titles, and so, you have to change the displayed art everytime you change the category. What about choosing the displayed image type per category (system) instead of doing this globally for all system types?
That's it so far :)

BTW, is there a place where people can donate to support your work on this?

Oh and something else I noticed - you can actually set up one emulator plus 2 alternative emulators per platform. How do I launch the alternative emulaotrs? Maybe some context menu (right click -> launch with... > Main, Alt 1, Alt 2) might be a useful adition, because sometimes you play games with one emulator and sometimes with another one.

Thanks, looking forward to this :) When do you think do you have some time to look into these and maybe release a new version? It's not that I am impatient, but just curious. I actually already donated 20 bucks to Phoenix, so I guess that's fine for now, more later maybe :)
