How to install Image Pack for using in ECC

Hi,

how can I install the image-packs for ECC?

Hi Trapez,

ECC has it's own file structure, based on the CRC32 (like most frontends)
I have to write a 'quick' tool for that, because the is only a ECC imagePackCreator (IPC) (exporter) instead of an importer.

ECC structure:
[ecc-user-path]\[ecc platformid]\images\[1st 2 digits of CRC32]\[CRC32]\ecc_[ecc platformid]_[CRC32]_[image type].[extension]

example:
ecc-user\svn\images\6B\6BD7C885\ecc_svn_6BD7C885_ingame_title.png

I hope you work on it, [-o< because if anybody do it by hand, it will be a lot of work to insert the images.

I have a second question.
Can I download the metadata for the roms anywhere, or must i fill out it alone?
Because I can't find the feature, which is described in the documentation.

Hi Trapez,

I will work on such tool :smartass:, but all my ECC programming is in my spare time, so please be patient!
ROMDB is offline because camya.com got hacked, long story....

BUT....you can download the COMPLETE DAT from the http://camya.com/ecc website and import this into ECC, it will give you a headstart ;-)

Hi Trapez,

another Idea: use ECC2 to import these images. There is an import option for this. If you want, copy over the resulting images folder to your ECC1 installation.

Working on eccImagePackCenter (renamed eccImagePackCreator), this will also have a (limited) import function for several formats like No-Intro, expect it to be ready this evening! :thumbsup:

I've finished the tool, but only true No-Intro packs can be imported though,
meaning the filestructure HAS TO BE: [CRC32].[EXTENSION]

Hier der aktuelle stand dieser Arbeit (Alle Snap Packs in Named statt CRC):
Nevertheless these packs are useless for direct import! :thumbsdown: , the images are NAME based, and cannot be imported that easily, meaning you must have roms imported in ECC for that platform or use a DAT file, and with luck they have to got the same filename to retrieve the CRC32. :online2long:

Imagepacks based on names are a bad example for all frontends! who are properly to lazy to get a CRC32 code from the rom! :ahhh: , if a filename changes, you can never retrieve the proper image...that's why ECC uses CRC32, so whatever the (file)name may be, ECC can always retrieve the proper image for the rom! :sorcerer:

Refresher CRC-32 naming is used because Rom CRC-32's rarely change...Rom naming on the other hand does change more often, do to spelling errors, better name translation, or simply naming convention changing altogether.

On the other hand, i could let the tool make usage of a DAT that is provided in those packs.

Can anybody ID this DAT structure, is it from Romcenter?

What must I do, for handle the *.kxf-file? :oops:

I had no time yet, to test the datfiles for metadata for the ROMs

Hi Trapez,

After installing update 00521, you can use the platform context menu to initiate the tool:

You don't need to download it manually from the 'Source Box', these are just my 'sources' and 'changelogs' :smartass:, the KXF is the
AutoIt3 GUI informations for Koda.

Hello guys,

i was trying to import some imagepacks without any luck :surrender:

i used both, namebased packs from here using the dat file found inside
and crc based ones from here

in both cases it pops up a error:

it works flawlessly now and it's also very fast :yes_head:

the only wierd thing is that at the end of the parsing it says always double the amount of processed files.

if i use, let's say, 100 pic it says "200 files processed" xD
not a problem at all, just to let u know :P

i imported succesfully all of my sets other then the NES one, probably something wrong in my set or in the dat file, i'll let u know as soon as i find out...

ps. i've been almost 2 years without a laptop or a pc in my hands and now that im back im glad to see that ur front end is STILL the best hands down. good job ;)

Thank you for testing!, i also found the double counting bug :detective: , but this is non critical so it will be released with the next update!

And yes...i believe ECC is still the best multi-emulator frontend around today! :yes_head: , i hope you enjoy it!
