Problem with Nintendo NES imagepack ?

Unread post by Alkis30 » 02 Jan 2009, 14:54

It seems that the Nintendo NES image pack found here http://www.blackerking.de/download/icc/ does not work in ECC ! After the installation there are no thumbnails images in the NES roms ...

@Alkis30,

I have checked these NES images, they are OK!!

I seems you have roms with ripheaders in them, then you have the wrong romset, only 'pure' ripped roms are supported with the images.

Like the LYNX platform here: http://ecc.phoenixinteractive.nl/viewto ... =27&t=1880

solution: get the proper rompack! ;)

What pack should I look for? What would it be called?

I used the latest no-intro nes ((20090731), so this is no good, right?

Hi Bigby,

You need 'headerless' (pure) roms, your SNES roms may have 'RIP' headers inside them! (so the CRC32 is different)

the topic was here: http://ecc.phoenixinteractive.nl/viewto ... =51&t=1895
this was also the problem for Lynx roms, here: http://ecc.phoenixinteractive.nl/viewto ... =41&t=1880

Hello. Was this problem finally understood? I'm having only partial imagepack support both using the GoodNES and the latest no-intro NES romset. What could I do to rip the unneeded headers?

Thank you in advance.

Hi mgtroyas,

You can try this tool: http://www.romhacking.net/utils/593/ ,let us know if it worked!

This tool is for SNES roms, not NES ones. I've searched a similar NES tool but haven't found anything.

Anyway, I've researched many times about this, and it's said if iNes header is removed from rom files, they may become useless for the emulator.

http://forums.no-intro.org/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1737

Time has passed but goodmerged and no-intro romsets still have this problem... what is the problem that including these headers in the CRC calculation may arise?

The CRC32 is calculated on the whole ROMfile, any byte changed....changes the CRC32 code and thus the code is different, so the CRC32 code of the image is not the same this way.

Try this one: iNES Cart Header Utility, v0.3, http://www.zophar.net/utilities/nesutil ... -tool.html
note: BORLAND dependicies needed!!
