Won't Find Any of my ScummVM Supported Games

Unread post by ToJPhantom » 02 Mar 2010, 16:52

I've been trying since last to get get ECC to find even one of my ScummVM games. I've tried zipping the folder, that didn't work. I've tried unzipping the folder, that didn't work. I've even tried dragging and dropping the file that ScummVM uses when it detects the game...and it still didn't work. But when I open up just ScummVM it finds the game and plays it just fine. So can someone tell me why this isn't working? I'm also having the same problem with DOSBox.

:ahhh:

EDIT

Forget it I'm an idiot...I figured out what I was doing wrong...

Hi ToJPhantom,

Like SCUMMVM games, you can add DOSBox games by ZIPping the game and then import it into ECC, then it will work....when run it will prompt for start/config settings per game.

I actually had it set to only show the first disc in a set (or whatever its called) and it wasn't showing the Scumm games, because they were "unknown".

Yeah, thats how I have it set up now. I had another question though...when I click and try and play the game it says I need to enter a "name" into the metadata or something like that. Do you happen to know what it means? Or what name I should use? Or how to find it?

Hi ToJPhantom,

SCUMMVM needs a commandline parameter to start the game properly, therefore every SCUMMVM games have their own GAMEID to start it, you have to enter this GAMEID into the 'Meta-Info ID' field, otherwise SCUMMVM doesn't know how & which game to start, here is a list:

p.s. you have to enter the string inside the [...] in the 'Meta-Info ID' of that specific game, so SCUMMVM knows how to start it ;)

I really hate to be a pain, but is there a chance I could get a screenshot of where I'm supposed to put the ID in? I'm horrible with directions, and always seem to have an easier time with pictures.
:sweatdrop:

I also wanted to say that ECC is by far the best program I've found for this kind of thing. There are so many other programs that are pure crap, or just insanely hard to use, it was like a breath of fresh air to find this one. :thumb:

Hi ToJPhantom,

I hope ECC isn't too hard to use, because it has a lot of options too :surrender: , Andreas (head developer of ECC) and I are also emulator freaks, therefore we start to build this program back in 2006, because no other program (frontend) could do what we wanted it to do it.

Here is a simple example ;)

1. Select a ROM/GAME from the list
2. Rightclick > Edit meta > Edit METADATA
ecc_edit_meta_data_01.png
3. TITLE field is needed/required
4. See > > HERE < < where to put these data into 'Meta-Info ID' (underneath 'additional info's')
ecc_edit_meta_data_02.png
Hope this helps :sorcerer:, feel free to ask for help anytime :smartass: , i'm off to bed now

Having another problem. Whenever I have ECC import the online datfile it changes like five of my ScummVM games to Full Throttle... ](*,)

Another question I had is this, are the games supposed to start up by themselves, or does ScummVM just pop up and then I have to select the game. Because that seems to be whats happening to me.

Hi ToJPhantom,

The game should start on itself, be sure that the 'use script' option has been activated, can you attatch a screen of your scummvm settings?

The problem is that these variables are not filled in 'ecc-script\eccScriptRom.dat':

Code: Select all

ecc_unpacked_file = ""
ecc_unpacked_path = ""
I have to search why....

@Vicman, can you test this also?, if this is correct?

Hi Phoenix,
for me it works !
1.I've downloaded the scummvm-datfile with eCC
2.I've parsed the scummvm-torrent from Gruby
3.enabled the scummvm-script
4.the games starts automatically

tested with DOTT,Indy3,loom,Monkey island.......

Okay, I'll have to test it out as soon as I get home. I'm out of town right now. Any word on why when I D/L the ScummVM datfile it changes like five games to Full Throttle. I know for sure it did it to both Broken Sword games. And the only game I tried opening with the program so far is Beneath a Steel Sky which I did just to test it. And all it did was open ScummVM.

Hi ToJPhantom,

I also tested Beneath a Steel Sky (floppy version), you can download it from the scummvm website, these are my settings, they should work, please try ;)

note: enter 'sky' as scummvm gameid.

p.s. don't know why your some games have got the name 'Full Throttle', because maybe a user entered/uploaded it wrong in the ECCdb, you can correct this and upload your data gain ;)
