What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
What keeps emucontrolcenter crahing in version 1.0? I am using 4+ gb games while parsing with just one in a folder, it crashes w/o error and just dissappears showing the desktop, Ive had this problem before on my other computer on an older version and my solution was to break games up each to its own folder which seemed like a fix. Doesn't work now. Getting frustrated as I find emucontrolcenter the only reasonable solution for quick launching old games.
My old computer specs were:
HP TX 2500z
Turion X2 Ultra zm-86
Radeon HD 3200
320 gb hdd
Vista 64
4gb DDR2
My new computer is a desktop
core i7 920 @4ghz with TRUE Copper cooler
6gb Mushkin DDR3 1600mhz ram 7-8-7-20
nvidia 9800gt passively cooled by Thermalright V2
Xonar Essence soundcard
Evga LE mobo
1050w enermax revolutions PSU
Win 7 RC 7100 64bit
2x 64gb ssd supertalent ultradrive me RAID 0
2x 1.5TB Samsung drives
The program itself is on the RAID ssd(s)
and the games are on the 1.5tb hdds if that matters. Maybe the ssd(s) are just too fast to parse the files on the hdd(s)?

Are you using a software or Hardware RAID?

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
Hi mas5acre,
BIG files (like 4GB+) are not calculated with PHP but with an external program FSUM, maybe FSUM gives an error or somekind to ECC and then ECC quits...is there any error.log in the ecc root folder? (where ecc.exe is located)

Hate to sound stupid, but its intel matrix raid, not sure if thats hardware or software...think its software.
error says
I ran the parser 5 times it told me it was out of memory just one time and closed, I think its what the above is. Otherwise it just closed itself.

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
Have you got 512 MB of memory??....if that's so...that's not much....maybe that could be the problem?
460587008 bytes /1024 = 449792 KB
449792 / 1024 = ca. 439 MB
439 MB + 64 MB (Shared Video Memory (onboard video)) = ca. 503 MB --> 512 MB

512 VRAM on the 9800gt, but system memory is 6gb ddr3, listed my specs above. My new computer is a beast. GPU will be gtx 380 asap.

Hmmm is ECC itself 32-bit or 64-bit?
Maybe PHP has a big Problem with this amount of RAM.

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
sorry didn't see that so fast....hmmm if the file < 700MB then PHP does al the work! (i think...Andreas?), maybe the file is broken/corrupt?mas5acre wrote:512 VRAM on the 9800gt, but system memory is 6gb ddr3, listed my specs above. My new computer is a beast. GPU will be gtx 380 asap.
P.S. I use hardware RAID 0 Striping, so i think RAID couln'd be the problem....

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
@mas5acre,
Now i think that 64-BIT is ALSO 32-BIT compatible...so...it is not the memory then....
It also can be an OS problem...can you set compatibity changes for:
ecc-core\php-gtk2\php.exe
ecc-core\php-gtk2\php-win.exe
to WinXP or WinVista 32BIT, maybe that will work

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
I just used the front pages link to the installer version, there is no place to chose whether program is 32bit/64bit. On my tablet, (specs above) ps2 Games crash it as well and my saturn/psx games have to be seperated each to its own folder to keep from crashing instead of parsing them all together in one folder. I've known about this problem for awhile and assumed it was just my tablet. I used to be a more frequent user around here and used alot of different builds on my tablet and the problem was always there. It seems most ppl use this program for really old stuff. I see cd/dvds as a more damagable media than cartridges and hence use it for these. Most Ps2 games on an i7 run without error at full speed in GSDX software mode on an i7. Hence why I care.Blackerking wrote:Hmmm is ECC itself 32-bit or 64-bit?

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
Just noticed even though emuc closes the php-gtk2 stays opens, u know what I mean it looks like windowed dos , but says nothing, just an empty black window with its blinking line

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
Almost all 32bit programs are 64bit compatible, just not drivers only cause drivers have to be signed in a 64bit environment which freeware ones are usually not. I'm using Imgburn with files outputting w/ the iso/mds extention

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
Hmmm...then it's a bug i think, Andreas should look at this...
Maybe someone else here on the forum can try parsing 4GB+ files...
p.s. moving to bug section

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
I've tested it with my System:
I've also looked in the System "Ereignisse" -> nothing found. It seems no Problem from Windows.
I will try to load ECC in compatibility Modes.
-It doesn't work with Windows XP SP2-
Code: Select all

Hi Blackerking,
Great that you are testing
,please note that you don't have to set settings on ecc.exe but on php.exe & php-win.exe
Great that you are testing

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
Most of the time it just crashes to desktop without error. Think its a pretty big bug. When in compatibility mode of the php.exe (of both of them, don't remember their names) it still crashes under 2000 and XP. Emucontrolcenter was my favorite
, so I'm really dissapointed...but I'm sure you'll fix it!
Really I don't like this program for what it is, but rather the support you guys give to it. After something is asked of u guys like say a script. u do it. Emucontrolcenter just works. I mean I wish it was prettier like Gameex, but this is all about function over form.

Re: What keeps on making emuc crash when parsing?
UPDATE: Found fix or rather workaround, use bin/cue not .iso/mds. alls is good.
I own all my games so I just have to re-rip them.

This should be fixed a while ago with the fsum parser (for every platform using optical media), closing...
